PennFree

 

The PennFree Program is a twelve-month rental subsidy program designed to empower recovering men and women to regain their independence. Participants in PennFree are homeless, recovering, single men and women, single men and women with children and families.

 

To be considered for the program, applicants must provide the following documentation:

  1. At least 90 days documented clean time.
  2. Referral from a substance abuse program or therapist (inpatient or outpatient) confirming 60 days of current attendance and active participation in treatment.
  3. Verification of homelessness.
  4. Proof of income (i.e. pay stubs, DPA printout, social security letter of determination) and meet income guidelines.
  5. Proof of identification (valid photo I.D.).
  6. Birth certificates and social security cards for all individuals that will reside in the household. The head of household must be 18 years of age or older.

FamilyLinks' PennFree Program provides:

  1. Six months of rental subsidy.
  2. Case Management services of a PennFree Community and Family Specialist (CFS).
  3. Individual service and case management plans with mutually agreed upon goals developed with the Community and Family Specialists (CFS).
  4. Furniture
  5. Linkage to other services as needed.
  6. On-going support.

PennFree Program participants are expected to:

  1. Maintain sobriety.
  2. Continue or enroll in a substance abuse treatment program.
  3. Maintain regular contact with their PennFree Community and Family specialist (CFS).
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to achieve their goals.
  5. Maintain or increase their income level.
