Looking for a career in human services?

Program Overview

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide services to at-risk populations and are a great way to start a career in human services. This 3-week, 60-hour program provides an orientation to Familylinks, training on the core skills to become a DSP, and provide an introduction to mental health and other topics for serving children and youth. Participants will receive classroom training in East Liberty and hands-on training at Familylinks’ program sites throughout Allegheny County.

Program participants will be considered temporary, part-time employees of Familylinks and paid at $15/hour during the program.

Successful participants will have the opportunity to transition to permanent part- or full-time employment in an open DSP position at $16/hour upon completion of the program.

Eligibility

All participants must complete the required pre-employment screens (including Act 33/34/FBI clearances, physical, and drug screen) prior to beginning the program.

Schedule

The next session will be announced in 2024.
